Sixth Grade Update

February 26, 2001

Math Update:
     Students are bringing home their practice proficiency test tonight (Friday Feb. 23). Please take a few minutes to look over it with your child.  The accompanying letter has lots of good information!
Homework:
Monday - Sharpen Up pages 47 - 56. Students will review their estimation
skills.
Tuesday - Sharpen Up pages 57 - 68. Problem solving review
Wednesday - Sharpen Up pages 69 - 86. Geometric Figures review
Thursday - Sharpen Up pages 87 - 96 . Doubling Areas and Recognizing Patterns
Friday - Sharpen Up pages 97 - 110 Measurement. FEBRUARY TEMPERATURE GRAPH IS DUE WEDNESDAY MARCH 8th!

Science Update:
Science Calendar and Journal are due Monday. Students will have a simple machines test Monday over the advantages of the screw.  GOOD LUCK TO ALL SCIENCE FAIR PARTICIPANTS!

Social Studies Update:
     Students will continue to prepare for the proficiency test using the
Sharpen Up Books.

Language and Spelling Update:
     There will not be any Spelling this week :(
     Students will be using their Sharpen Up books all week. Please ask to see your child's Language Notebook. Mrs. Campbell has these graded. You will be able to see your child's strengths and weaknesses in a particular area of Language.

Reading Update:
     Reading folders will be due Friday. Each student will have two papers in the folder. Some students received a skill packet to help them with reading skills. A second packet will come home Friday or Monday for students who need extra help.

Camp Update: We are ready to go March 7 - 9! Students must pack warm clothes.  They need to remember their lunch for Wednesday. Chapstick is very handy too.  All students got a copy of the supply list. If they lost theirs, they may copy
mine. All medication needs to be turned in to Mrs. Parks or Mrs. Fishley on Wednesday morning. Please have it in the original container with clear directions. We are going to have a great time.

Parent Teacher conference are Tuesday. If you did not get one scheduled, but would like to, please let me know.
