Sixth Grade Update

March 5, 2001

 The highlight of this week will be our camp trip! Students need to arrive
at school at their regular time. All students need a packed lunch, including a drink. Students were given a copy of the supply list. We talked today about dressing in layers. All students need a hat and a coat. Chapstick is a great idea too. Please make sure that their names are marked on everything!
We will return between 1:30 and 2:00 on Friday. Students are welcome to leave early with their parents. Students will only be allowed to leave with another adult if Mrs. Parks has written permission. All students can ride the bus home at the regular time.
PLEASE REMEMBER ALL MEDICATION MUST BE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY. IT CAN BE GIVEN TO MRS. FISHLEY OR MRS. PARKS. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL DIRECTIONS ARE WRITTEN CLEARLY.  MEDICATION WILL BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CAMP MEDIC.

Math Update:
Students must turn in their temperature graph by Tuesday at 2:30.

Tuesday's homework Sharpen Up pages 129 - 141

Science Update:
There was no calendar this week. Students must turn in Journal #22 on Monday. The journal is: What was the best advice that you ever received?  Who gave you that advice? Why was it so important?
Students will be reviewing Monday and Tuesday. Students will have calendars next week (including camp). Journals will not be given Friday, but will be assigned the following Monday. It will be about camp.  Students will get a new Table of Contents for their notebooks on TUESDAY MARCH 6. Their notebooks will be due Tuesday, March 13!

Spelling and Language:
There will be no spelling next week. Students have a persuasive writing assignment due MONDAY morning! They will work on writing friendly letters next week.

Reading:
A second packet of skills review was sent home to some students today.
All students will get their graded reading folders back on Monday.

 Social Studies:
Students are reviewing. Their vocabulary notebook will be due soon!
Proficiency Testing will begin Monday March 12. We will take a test over one subject each morning through Friday. It is very important that all students have a good night's sleep and a good breakfast each day. Please encourage your child to take their time and do their best. All students must have a protractor and a calculator to use on Wednesday!
